Ronald McDonald House Charities Programs

RMHC Northern Nevada lifts children to better tomorrows through the following programs that benefit children and families. 

Ronald McDonald House of Reno, located near Renown Health, is a comfortable and supportive home for families living more than 30 miles away from Reno or Sparks with a critically ill child in an area hospital or receiving local treatment.  Families need to contact the hospital social worker if they are interested in arranging RMH housing.  Built in 1987 to serve 12 families, this 12,000 square-foot home helps over 300 families each year. Travel for Treatment gives assistance when a child’s medical treatment is not available at a local hospital and the family needs some financial assistance.  If you know the family of a child who is traveling out of the area for medical treatment and could use some financial help, please tell them to contact social services at their current medical facility or call Ronald McDonald House Charities at 775-322-4663.

RMHC Outreach Grants directly benefit Nevada’s children through nonprofits dedicated to children’s health, education, and well-being programs with matched funds from RMHC Global.  Recipients of the 2007 grant awards include South Lake Tahoe Women's Center ($3,000), The Solace Tree ($5,000), Renown Heath Foundation ($13,500), and Angel Kiss Foundation($5,000). In 2005, RMHC supported the new Nevada Discovery Museum for children with a $40,000 grant. 

The RMHC Scholarship Program awards scholarships to northern Nevada’s high school students to encourage them to continue their education.  Since 2000, RMHC has awarded over $425,000 to local students.   You can donate online today!  The 2008 scholarship deadline has passed. Reno, Sparks, and Northern Nevada high school students can apply for the 2009 scholarship in October, 2008.  Check back for an application.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a mobile outreach clinic granted to our medical partner Saint Mary’s Medical Center to provide medical and dental care, health education and other services and assistance to children in high-risk areas of Reno and Sparks as well as rural communities.
