What Families Can Expect at Ronald McDonald House of Reno We enjoy serving families through the Ronald McDonald House of Reno and we like them to be as comfortable as possible during their stay. Here, we’ve included some information that someone might need prior to coming to stay with us. Families are expected to take an active role in their home away from home by keeping the house clean, orderly, and pleasant for other guests. Family members do their own laundry, clean their own bedrooms and bathrooms, and can prepare their own meals anytime. Additionally, everyone takes responsibility for cleaning up after themselves and being considerate of others with regard to common areas. Volunteer chefs prepare most of the evening meals, and guests are welcome to cook in the kitchen and to eat the food in the cupboards or community refrigerator at any time. There is also a lockable food cupboard where guests can keep personal food items. All rooms have a phone with voicemail. Friends and family can call our telephone number (775-322-4663) and use a family’s three-digit phone extension (available at check-in) at any time, even after the office closes at 9:00 p.m. Cellular phones are okay to use in the house, as long as the user is considerate of other guests. If a family needs to send or receive a fax, we have a fax machine available in the office and the number is 775-322-8670. If a guest has a laptop and it has wireless, we can get them online. Without a laptop, families can access the Internet at Renown Health. A laundry room and laundry supplies are available at no charge. Visitors are welcome at the house from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in all the common areas. Smoking is allowed outside on the side porch. Children under the age of 18 years old may not be left in the house alone and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
